When Parenting Works – Stories of my girls
When you get to the end of the year you often have the chance to sit back and look at the things that have gone down during the year. Some of them we don’t want to think about again (I know that we have a few of those moments, and I know that I had to do a whole bunch of apologizing for my reactions and outbursts), but others can be great parenting wins!
Watch the video above as I share a few anecdotes of what went down in the Best House this past year.
TANTRUMS? REALLY?
It involves tantrums – and the shouting of unexpected “I love you!” This was definitely unexpected and it was also funny – though I had to hide my smiles and control my laughter.
There is even the time when, once again she was angry and she turned my words on me……”I am your miracle and you can never stop loving me!” (Definitely up there in parentings wins!)
QUEEN OF TURD WORLD
Please enjoy the story of “Queen of Turd World”. When one little girl tries to explain away her behavior in the form of a very creative story. I think that I need to sit down and write it properly. Maybe there is a publisher out there that might be interested in how crappy attitudes can take over a child. It might surprise you too!
And then there’s……..I love you boobs! A definite crowd pleaser….maybe….ha!
I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was definitely not as originally planned – even a week out. But it was also good to just have some time together. We were able to reflect upon the year, to look at the struggles. But we also saw the good things that has happened to us as a family. And remember, no matter what this year held, there were some definite unexpected parenting wins!
Here is another blog post about changing parenting tools, that can also be a win.
And here is a fun book on weird parenting win. Full of things we never thought we might do as parents.
